7 DIY: Oatmeal Facial Masks At Home

If you’re looking for a quick pick-me-up that will leave you feeling and looking better, give yourself an oatmeal facial.Oatmeal contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe itchy, dry and irritated skin. Oatmeal is also great for acne-prone skin because it absorbs oil from the skin’s surface. Oats are also said to be highly absorptive, hypoallergenic, and can be used to cleanse, exfoliate, soften and soothe the skin and the best part is that Oatmeal suits all skin types. No reactions at all. In fact, oats have been clinically proven to help heal dry, itchy skin.

If your wondering how to make oatmeal face pack, homemade at that, here are a few simple techniques!





Simple Oatmeal Facial Mask:

Combine 1/2 cup hot—not boiling—water and 1/3 cup oatmeal.
After the water and oatmeal have settled for two or three minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 small egg white. Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.


Apple-Oatmeal Exfoliating Mask  (For All Skin Types):

Mix 2 tablespoons applesauce, 1-tablespoon honey, and 2 tablespoons oatmeal together, with a few drops of rose water. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties, soothes irritated skin and is good for sensitive skin. Apple has antioxidants and helps prevent cell and tissue damage. It is also a mild fruit acid to remove dead skin cells. Apple also helps reduce and control oil and blemishes.

Oatmeal-Lemon Juice Facial Mask ( For Oily Skin):

Mix 2 Tablespoons Oatmeal ( Medium-fine ground ), Juice from half a Lemon, Olive oil to make a paste. Apply this homemade oatmeal face pack to your skin leaving out the eyes and the lips. Leave it on for ten minutes and wash off with cold water. The lemon juice and oats work on removing the oil on your face while the olive oil keeps the skin nourished and smooth.

 Acne Buster Oatmeal Face Pack (For Acne Prone Skin):

Grind two tablespoons of oatmeal in a blender or food processor. Add one teaspoon of baking soda to the oatmeal with enough water to make a paste. Apply the oatmeal paste onto clean, dry face. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with cool water.Baking soda gently exfoliates dead skin cells. It helps open and deep cleanse pores and is also good for clearing away blackheads and absorbing excess oil from the skin.

Cooked Oatmeal Face Pack (For Dry/Mature Skin):
Ingredients:
½ cup cooked oatmeal
1 egg
1 tablespoon almond oil
½-mashed banana
1-tablespoon honey
Directions:
Combine ingredients and apply to face. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Bananas have anti-aging skin benefits, but are also good for sensitive and acne-prone skin. Because of anti-bacterial properties, bananas help blemishes heal. Almond oil is good for aging and dry skin. Honey is a great humectant, to hydrate the skin and lock in moisture, and also has anti-bacterial properties.


Blemish Buster (For blemished skin):

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons colloidal oatmeal
1-teaspoon honey
¼ cup warm water
1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
1-teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Directions:
Combine ingredients into a paste. Apply to clean face, massaging gently in circular motions. Leave on no more than five minutes. Rinse with warm water. Vinegar is acidic and has antiseptic properties, which gets rid of bacteria. It also restores the skin’s pH balance. Some people use white distilled vinegar or apple cider vinegar, but white wine vinegar is milder.

Oatmeal face pack with curd:(For Pore reducing):

Ingredients :
2 Tablespoons Oatmeal ( medium to fine ground )
One to one and a half tablespoons of plain curd

Directions:
Take the oats in a small bowl and mix the curd into it making a smooth non dripping paste. Apply the face pack onto your skin leaving out the eyes and the lips. You can either cover your entire face or just the areas with large open pores. Leave on the oatmeal face pack for about ten to fifteen minutes or until the face pack starts to dry out. Wash off with cold water and pat dry. This helps to treat large open pores quite easily.
